HAMPTON STORYTELLING NEWS
Our Friends at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Need Your Help
Their project, The Power of Story: Stories of Remembrance, aims to preserve any and all existing memories of St. Alphonsus Church and the Blessed Martin Church & Center, two local Black parishes which no longer exist. Spearheaded by ICCC's Interracial Formation Ministry, the effort seeks stories, pictures, written accounts, memorabilia, and names of former parishioners or their family members.
The project intends to develop a video, booklet, or museum display with these materials. If you are able to help in any way, please reach out to either person listed below:

Storytellers Wanted for April, by WHRO & Hampton's Mosaic Festival
Instead of having our monthly storytelling event in April, Hampton Storytelling is supporting two important arts events.
1) Hampton Storytelling has a new partner: WHRO! Their Emerging Leaders Board project for 2025 is The Story Exchange, similar to The Moth Radio Hour. They've already held one event, and will hold a second at the American Theatre in Phoebus on Thursday, April 17th. They're looking for tellers of 5 to 7-minute-long stories with the theme of Community, Belonging or Home. Submit your story at https://whro.submittable.com/submit/321847/the-story-exchange-april-17th-submissions, soon. No previous storytelling experience is required!
2) And Hampton's Mosaic Festival, Saturday, April 26th, still needs vendors and performers. Details can be found at the Mosaic Festival 2025 website; the contact for performers is ellen.winslow@hampton.gov. Please participate, attend and bring family and friends for a beautiful, entertaining day!
We believe Everybody's Got a Story, and here's your chance to tell yours. So go for it. Your story might be one of those selected. We’ll be there to cheer you on!
We Need You
We need more wonderful Volunteers! If you're already coming to our programs, and even if you aren't, please help us out. Hampton Storytelling has monthly storytelling events and our annual Hampton
Storytelling Festival. We don't ask our Volunteers to do anything complicated, and they get to hear all the stories. Help in all areas is needed and appreciated. We value the time and willingness of every Volunteer.
If you can help, please get in touch with either of the people below.
